A writer's draft is the most private thing they own. Attente is built so that it stays on your computer, readable without us, and never becomes anyone's training data.
Local-first, offline, and in plain files
Every project is a real folder on your computer, named after its title, in a location you can see and change. Everything except hosted readings works with no connection at all.
Every document exports as plain text, and every project as plain text or Markdown in binder order, with no account, no network and no paid plan. Nothing is ever kept in a format only we can read.
Never trained on
Your manuscript, notes and story bible are never used to train or fine-tune any model, by Attente or by any provider we send a reading to. Hosted readings go only to providers whose terms forbid training and keep nothing after the request, and our own services forget the text when the request ends.
Error reports and counts never include your text, titles or the names in your story.
Off means off
The readers are on when you start, because they're useful. One switch turns them off for the app, one for a project, and one for each reader. When they're off for a project, nothing from it is sent to any model, and nothing already queued goes either.
Dictation and narration run on your computer. Audio never leaves it.
This site, too
This website loads nothing from anyone else: no trackers, no analytics, no third-party fonts. When you buy, Stripe handles the payment, and we keep only what we need for your licence and receipt.
